So, did you hear the one about the major U.S. Auto Industry CEO's flying in their private jets to Washington to ask for financial aid? It was a good one!
Another 14 billion dollars in government bailout loans, this time to save the U.S. auto industry, is being negotiated. Wonder where this money will go, more Hum Vees, maybe? That's what this country needs, more road hogging, gas guzzling, high emissions vehicles!
I understand that with the economy taking a downward spiral that letting these auto companies wallow in their own mess, that they created, would lead to more economic strife. Millions more would lose their jobs and all that jazz, but what if the government gives some sort of stipulation with the bail out money?
Senator Bob Corker proposed forcing the Auto Industry to reduce their dept, cut wages and benefits for employees as part of restructuring conditions. How about 'killing two birds with one stone', what if somewhere in these negotiations, the Big Three are required to produce affordable 'green vehicles' for us folks on Main Street? Producing vehicles that not only we, as a Nation could afford, but one that the Planet could afford as well.
