Google has a new Algorithm for Mobile Device Searches
2015-04-24

The way of the internet is changing rapidly. More and more people are using their smart phones to find yummy restaurants, make reservations, and buy a new dress all while waiting for the bus! As a result of these changes, Google is changing its search algorithm and will reward sites that are optimized for mobile adaptability. Whether a website is "mobile-friendly" or not will play a huge part in search engine ranking. This is the largest change to Googles algorithm in years! The changes will not affect searches from desktop or laptop computers, but it will have a large influence on the searches created from cellphones. Tablets won't be affected yet, but it's coming.

Here's what Google is looking for:

SPEED

Websites that load quickly on mobile devices. Load times are important when connecting to a website from a mobile device. Graphics that have been optimized for both a PC user and a mobile user will load much quicker than a website that is only geared towards a PC user.

ACCESSIBILITY

Content must be accessible without scrolling from left to right. Buttons should be easy to locate and easy to touch on smaller screens. Text should be easy to see without zooming in and links should have enough spacing between them that clicking on one is easy for the user.

USABILITY

How many clicks does it take to perform a particular task? If you are trying to look at a house or make a reservation it should not take hours to complete this task. Single clicking is the way to go.
