
As part of the stimulus money that is to be used for energy efficiency and conservation, Pinellas County stands to receive a big hunk of "green" dough! $3.2 billion of the stimulus money is to be used for energy efficiency projects and $168 million of that money is heading to Florida!
Mike Conners, the internal services administrator in St. Petersburg, Pinellas County, Florida, is looking forward to putting together plans for solar panels for the government buildings, energy-efficient street lights and green cars!
Grants must be applied for in order to receive any of the money available and once the money is received, recipients need to report how many 'green' jobs were created, how much energy was saved and any greenhouse gas emissions that were reduced. Projects that are eligible for receiving grants include tuning and/or repairing AC systems, reducing electric base load consumption and controlling air infiltration.
