Hernando County Oktoberfests and Halloween Happenings

It's that wonderful time of the year! There are lots going on this weekend in Weeki Wachee, Spring Hill and Brooksville.
High Point's Ladies Fire Auxillary will host an Oktoberfest on Saturday, October 23. High Point is located on SR 50 in Broooksville and doors open at 5:30 p.m. and will go until 10 p.m. Food, beer and entertainment will be provided. If you don't like beer, you can BYOB. Music will be by Just Us Duo. The entry is $12 per person and you need a reservation. Call Sylvia at 352-596-6006.

Wild n' Wicked Nights at the Weeki Wachee Springs State Park. They have an annual Halloween festival which goes from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday (22nd and 23rd) and again October 29-30th. Adults are $13 and children ages 6-12 are $8. Children 5 and under are free. This year they are featuring a haunted boat ride, kid's maze, haunted forest, stage show, crazy carnival, scream and custome contest and much more. They even have a spooktacular underwater show by the famous mermaids featuring "The Adventures of Alice in Waterland". There is also an arts and crafts show. Hernando County Rec Department will hold their 21st annual Halloween Harvest Festival the 22nd and 23rd from 6 - 10 p.m. at the Fairgrounds located at 6436 Broad Street, Brooksville.

Rock N' Soul concert at Lake House - for us "older" rockers there is a concert at the Lake House located at 1202 Kenlake Ave., off Spring Hill Drive. Gates open at 4 p.m. Act 3 will be featured with music of the Temptations, Four Tops and Motown and the Stones Throw Rollings Stones tribute band. Fodd and drink will be available. It is lawn style so bring your chairs or blankets. Tickets are $7 per person and children under 12 is free. More info call 352-666-4746.
