Lakeland, Florida known for the many small lakes across the city is about to make a big splash come April 18, 2015!
Slide the City, a 1,000 foot padded slide, will be erected to celebrate the return of spring, giving locals a chance to slip and slide their way from Lemon Street to Lake Morton Drive on Massachusetts Ave in downtown!
Using 15,000 to 20,000 gallons of water per event, Slide the City is open to children, and adults, who are 46" or taller and at least 5 years old. Participants must bring their own inflatable tube or purchase one at the event.
Ready to Go for it?
You can purchase early registration tickets online for only $15.00 for a single slider, $30 for a triple slider or $50 for a VIP slider. If you wait, the prices will increase by $10. By purchasing the VIP option, you will be allowed unlimited slides during regular hours of 12:00 - 5:00 plus exclusive access an hour before the slide opens and an hour after it closes!
"I think it's going to be hilarious," said Ellen Hunter Simms, co-executive director of the Downtown Lakeland Partnership. "It is certainly something completely different than anything that's happened in downtown in at least 10 years. A giant Slip 'N Slide I just think it's wonderful."
This is a rain or shine event, a little more rain only adds to the fun! So, grab your swimsuit and a few good friends and get ready to soak the city!
